Digi-Bridge Expands STEAMLab Program to 19 Schools
As the 2021-22 academic year kicks off, we are beyond excited to expand our STEAMLab out-of-school-time program into nine additional schools for a total of 19 schools. We are thrilled to be able to serve thousands of students with in-person experiential learning experiences through the program.
Digi-Bridge is building on the success and reach of our 2020-2021 STEAMLab program where we served thousands of students across 9 school partners through virtual yet hands-on programming with curriculum such as Design Engineering, Arts, Data, and Tech, and Coding and Gaming.
Digi-Bridge provides quality out-of-school-time STEAM programming to K-8 grade students through STEAMLab in a learning-by-doing environment under the direction of master educators. Our model is built upon research on how students best engage in STEAM topics.
We utilize gender-equitable teaching strategies as well equity strategies in our program design. Cultural relevance in our program delivery and curriculum development allows learners to make real world meaning and focused interest as STEAM becomes a part of their everyday life. Digi-Bridge has a deeply vested interest in engaging communities of promise in Charlotte because, as data demonstrates and supports, families and individuals build a brighter future for themselves and our country as a whole when empowered with high-quality educational opportunities. We are proud of our community organization model which builds with not for the community.
Schools are able to choose a curriculum called “Digi-Bins” from our proprietary curriculum catalog. New to our curriculum catalog for 2021-2022 is Cyber Security funded by Bank of America, Sustainability in Action funded by Trane Technologies, and Financial Technology funded by LendingTree Foundation.
“In the last year, we had to adjust our programming to better meet the needs of the scholars and educators in our partner schools,” said Digi-Bridge CEO Alyssa Sharpe. “Because of our adaptations, we have higher enrollment than ever with stronger outcomes of increased interest and confidence in STEAM. We are thrilled about the financial support we’ve received that has allowed us to expand quickly to reach more scholars. The need for hands-on experiential learning in STEAM is critical in today’s world and we’re so happy to be able to meet this need.”
