Celebrating Scholars on National STEM/STEAM Day!
Today is National STEAM/STEM Day and we want to share a little about how we help scholars in Charlotte advance in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math!
In addition to our #STEAMSaturdays programming in Ballantyne, SouthPark, Davidson and Plaza Midwood, we also work with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to provide our programming to several school sites with help from community partnerships.
This school year, our Digi-Bridge #STEAMSaturdays programming takes place at six school sites: Bruns Avenue Elementary, Druid Hills Academy, Ashley Park Pre K-8, Briarwood Academy, Idlewild Elementary and Montclaire Elementary.
Through the generosity of our partners at Ally Financial (Bruns Avenue Elementary), Honeywell (Druid Hills Academy), OrthoCarolina (Ashley Park Pre K-8), Arts and Science Council (Briarwood Academy), Junior League Charlotte (Idlewild Elementary) and SouthPark Rotary (Montclaire Elementary) we have already provided one series of quality STEM/STEAM experiences this school year and look forward to more.
Each Saturday, scholars at these schools are enjoying LEGO robotics, science experiments (including slime making!) and increasing their love of all things STEAM/STEM.
The benefits to STEM education are endless and include fostering ingenuity and creativity, encouraging teamwork and developing problem-solving skills.
During our Saturday morning courses, our K-8 scholars are challenged to create, work together, but also to have a lot of fun while doing so.
We love working with K-8 scholars throughout the community to share the love of STEM/STEAM!
