Honeywell Partners with Digi-Bridge for Family Code-In and #STEAMSaturdays at Druid Hills Academy
This weekend, thanks to the generosity of Honeywell and its volunteers, we will be hosting a Family Code-In at Druid Hills Academy, a Title 1 Pre K-8 school in Charlotte’s North End.
This Saturday’s Family Code-In at Druid Hills is part of a community service initiative with Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte, which coordinated the project, and Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company’s corporate citizenship initiative, which provided the funding and the volunteers. This will mark the beginning of Rebuilding Together’s Building a Healthy Neighborhood initiative in Druid Hills with a long-term commitment to preserve and support the neighborhood with safe, affordable and accessible homes and green spaces.
Honeywell volunteers and Rebuilding Together join Digi-Bridge, Brand the Moth, and Pop Up Produce, to bring lasting improvements to Druid Hills Academy. As part of Honeywell’s first community volunteer event since making Charlotte home to the company’s Corporate Headquarters, the school will receive several campus beautification projects; a full year of STEM programming; community murals; and a new school garden.
This Code-In kicks off the beginning of a partnership with Honeywell, a Fortune 100 technology solutions company, which has invested $30,000 into Digi-Bridge’s #STEAMSaturdays programming at Druid Hills Academy this upcoming school year.
“We are thrilled about this new partnership with Honeywell as they relocate their headquarters to Charlotte,” Digi-Bridge CEO Alyssa Sharpe said. “It’s so exciting to see a technology company investing in what we do to bring STEM programming to all scholars in Charlotte. The multi-generational impacts of both a Family Code-In and our flagship #STEAMSaturdays program will potentially prepare scholars for careers at Honeywell in the future.”
Digi-Bridge will facilitate #STEAMSaturdays in six CMS schools, including Druid Hills Academy, during the 2019-20 school year.
